Theory / Hazard Perception & Practical Tests 

To gain your full Driving Licence, you will need to pass the Theory test, Hazard Perception Test and the Practical Driving Test 

The Theory Test is made up of 50 multiple choice questions. You must answer a minimum of 43 to pass. 

The Theory Test is available in different languages other than English: 

Albanian, Arabic, Bengali, Cantonese, Dari, Farsi, Gujarati, Hindi, Kashmiri, Kurdish, Mirpuri, Polish, Portugese, Punjabi, Pushto, Spanish, Tamil, Turkish, Urdu, Welsh 

The Theory Test can be delivered in British sign language by an on screen signer for candidates who are deaf or have other hearing difficulties

The Hazard Perception Test is made up of 14 clips, of which 13 clips have 1 scoring hazard and 1 clip has 2 scoring hazards. Each hazard has a maximum score of 5 points (75 in total). You must score a minimum of 44 points to pass. 

You must pass the Theory & Hazard Perception Tests at the same time. 

Theory & Hazard Perception Fee: £31.00  


The Practical Test is to ensure you can drive safely and to check your knowledge of the Highway Code, by the way you apply it to your driving.  

You must be able to read a number plate at 20.5 metres (67 feet). 

At the start of the test you will be asked 2 Show me/Tell me questions about your car. 

You are allowed a maximum of 15 driving faults, but NO serious or dangerous faults.
