John, our Instructor Trainer has been successfully training Driving Instructors since 2003. He has helped many Instructors get the coveted ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) Green badge. 

There are three tests to pass before becoming an ADI

Part One (Theory Test)

The Part One test is made up of 100 multiple choice  questions (the pass mark is 85) and 14 Hazard Perception clips - 13 clips have 1 hazard and 1 clip has 2 hazards - each hazard scoring a maximum of 5 points each = 75 in total (the pass mark is 57). click here for more details

Part Two (Driving Test)

The Part Two test starts with an eyesight check you must be able to read a number plate at a minimum distance of 27.5 metres (90 feet) and then 5 safety check questions about your vehicle. You must drive in a brisk, business like manner, showing expert handling of the car. You are allowed a maximum of 6 driving (minor) faults, but NO serious or dangerous faults. click here for more details

Part Three (Instructional Ability Test)

The part three test is to assess the quality of your instruction and your ability to pass your knowledge on to pupils. The test is in two parts, each of which lasts about half an hour. You must pass both parts on the same test. click here for more details
